Our Donations to date:
The Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT) is a national independent charity helping the children and grandchildren of veterans with the costs of tertiary education. Every donation received goes towards AVCAT’s goal of assisting young people to aim for a better future through tertiary education.
Few people outside the veteran community are aware of the ongoing effects of conflict, and the cycle of disadvantage it can create, on veterans and their families. Numerous studies have demonstrated the prevalence of the following in veteran families, mental health conditions and disorders, financial difficulties, high unemployment rates and poor educational outcomes.
AVCAT was established in 2003 to manage tertiary scholarships for the children and grandchildren of Australian veterans. AVCAT was formed from the former Vietnam Veterans’ Trust, founded in 1985. The purpose of the original Vietnam Veterans’ Trust was to distribute the Australian share of funds received from the Agent Orange legal settlement in the USA. The funds were distributed to Australian Vietnam Veterans and their dependents. Today AVCAT honours the legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Trust and continues to expand it by supporting the children and grandchildren of Australian Veterans with their tertiary studies through bursaries and scholarships.
We sell Memorial items for Charity.
Part of our business model is to pay it forward. Our Memorial products are exactly that, we use our exposure as a business to raise funds and awareness for Australian Veterans. Our aim here is quite simple, we strongly believe in paying it forward and if we can encourage others to join us, we're winning. We care about our community of veterans, young and old, and help out where we can. Every product sold under the Memorial Charity product page is used to raise funds solely for charity. This means we donate 100% of every single dollar we make from these products towards charity. They are a complete standalone to our "normal" product range.
We use our past & present contacts and experience to vet which organisations to donate to. Anyone with half a military or police background knows that not all charities are as charitable as they say they are. We aim to provide legitimate charities with our time, effort and money raised with your assistance.
